Pearl Harbor

When Japan attacked the United States at Pearl Harbor, millions of infuriated Americans, especially on the west coast, instantly changed their views from isolationist to avenger. Based on the clip we watched in class, is this statement valid? Prove your point of view using evidence or links. Be sure to build off of each other's posts and let your intellectual curiosity guide the conversation. You are responsible for posting AT LEAST once.

Here are the clips if you would like to watch them again:

New Deal Journal Response

You are responsible for reading and commenting on at least THREE of your peer’s journals. Remember that your responses must meet the usual criteria of a quality post and will be worth a quiz grade. Your responses need to analyze the factual content of the post (i.e. policies, evidence of the way people lived, etc.). Let your intellectual curiosity take the discussion where it needs to go. Remember that you cannot repeat the ideas of other classmates, but rather you want to look to build off the ideas of one another. Please use links to videos and other websites to enhance your argument or statement.

New Deal Blog Assignment

Your first post will be worth a quiz grade and is due on Thursday. Your journal entry needs to be posted under your name and needs to be the equivalent of 1 page in length. Here is the question:

You are an average American living through the Great Depression. Choose an age, location, job (or unemployment), identity, etc. Describe life in the Great Depression for YOU by using specific evidence and policies in your entries.

Welcome to our blog!

Here are some things to know and things to remember about blogging for AP US class. The blog will be our way of communicating online and will replace our journals. Please be aware that I will put out some minimum requirements and ground rules as to keep the blog moving and appropriate. Also be aware that anything posted MUST abide by the rules of our school and the expectations of an AP level class. Remember that once something has been posted, there is no going back! If done correctly you will find this exercise rewarding and enjoyable.

General Expectations:
1. A post consists of QUALITY commentary not necessarily quantity
2. A post can include a link or a picture to observe and comment on, but must also contain your commentary
3. Otherwise a post needs to be at least a paragraph in length
4. NOTHING can be inappropriate or divisive in nature
5. Feel free to disagree and discuss but do it respectfully
6. Feel free to compare and contrast to other times in history, the present day, or other subject matters
7. Be creative, imaginative, and show your intellectual curiosity
8. Look at the AP Euro blog: http://dunellenapeuro.blogspot.com/
